Dr. Meher Banajee has worked with individuals with significant disabilities and in the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) since 1985; initially at Metropolitan Development Center, then as an AAC coordinator at Children's Hospital. She has worked at LSU Health Sciences center in the infant/toddler program and then as an associate professor in the communication disorders program. She continues to provide supervision for students who provide communication and AAC intervention weekly to 30-35 clients across the life span and with different types of disabilities. She is also in charge of setting up the different specialty clinics (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorders Diagnostic clinic, Assistive Technology clinic and a Feeding and Swallowing clinic). Dr. Banajee also consults with several school districts in the New Orleans area to assist with AAC assessments and developing treatment plans as part of the IEP team. These schools districts include: Orleans Parish Schools, Re:New Schools, Livingston Parish Schools, East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, etc.
I have also provided extensive training in the area of AAC to Re:New Schools.


Financial: Dr Banajee is employed at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center as an associate professor and program director for the department of Speech-language Pathology.

Non-Financial: Dr. Banajee holds volunteer positions on the American Board for AAC Specialty Certification (AB-AAC) and the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA).
